Unit of Measure (UoM)

A UoM is the measurement unit used to quantify an item.

In ERPNext, a large number of UoMs are created by default. Nevertheless, depending on your business use case, more can be added. There is a checkbox in the UoM for "Must be Whole Number." You cannot use fractional numbers in this UoM if this box is ticked. Visit this website to learn more about fractions and UoMs.

Only the name is stored in the UoM list by itself. A document titled "UoM Conversion Factor" contains the actual conversion rates. It is encouraged that you add new UoMs to this list if you intend to use them in transactions where they will be converted to other UoMs.
