ERPNext for Service Organization
ERPNext for Service Organization
Question:ERPNext appears to be primarily intended for manufacturers and traders. Are businesses that provide services use ERPNext?
Answer:
Around 30% of ERPNext's clients are businesses that provide services. These are businesses that provide certification services, software development, individual consulting, and many more services. We use ERPNext to manage our sales, accounting, support, and human resources functions because we are in the service industry ourselves. See the video below to see how ERPNext is used.
Master Setup
For Items, a Service firm is set up differently. They don't have warehouses since they don't keep track of their inventory.
Uncheck the "Keep Stock" field in the item master to create a service (non-stock) item.

Choose Maintenance as the Order Type when establishing a Sales Order for the services. Compared to orders for stock items, sales orders of the maintenance kind require fewer details, such as delivery notes and item warehouses.
Service businesses can still maintain their permanent assets, such as computers, furniture, and other office equipment, by adding stock goods.
Hiding Non-required Features As the services company won't need many modules like Manufacturing and Stock, you can conceal those modules from:
Setup > Permissions > Show/Hide Modules
Unchecked modules will be hidden from view for all users.
Permissions
The system with permission controls is called ERPNext. Depending on the rights given to them, users can access the system. Hence, if a user does not have a role connected to the stock or manufacturing module, those modules will be concealed from them. To learn more about permission management, go here.
