Grant Application
Grant Application
The purpose of a grant application is for use by organizations that give money to others, such as grant seekers, etc.
Grants are non-repayable sums of money or goods that are given by one party (grantmakers), frequently a government agency, business, foundation, or trust, to another party (recipients), typically (but not necessarily) a nonprofit organization, a business, or an individual. Grant writing, which is frequently referred to as either a proposal or an application, is necessary in order to be eligible for funding.
Most grants are given in order to finance a particular project, and some level of compliance and reporting is expected.
An applicant submits a proposal (or submission) to a possible funder as part of the grant writing process, either on their own initiative or in response to the funder's request for proposals. Individuals may also be eligible for other awards, such as those for small business owners or victims of natural catastrophes. Grant recipients may occasionally be required to be a local government, a registered nonprofit organization, or possess some sort of tax-exempt status.
Grant applications are written in accordance with guidelines, reviewed by an assessment manager, and either approved or rejected by the organization.
