Capacity Planning based on Work Order
Capacity Planning based on Work Order
You can keep track of the production tasks assigned to each Workstation with the aid of the capacity planning functionality.
The steps to use the ERPNext account's capacity planning feature are as follows.
- Operations
To add operations, go to:
Manufacturing > Bill of Materials > Operations
- Workstation
Add each Workstation in your ERPNext account from:
Manufacturing > Bill of Materials > Workstation
You can specify the operations that will be carried out on a workstation as well as the associated costs and working hours in the workstation master.
- Bill of Materials (BOM):
Together with the list of raw materials required for manufacturing, a BOM might also include the operations and workstations that will be used to process those raw materials.
- Work Order:
Timesheet for Operations upon Work Order Submission. This enables you to assign production tasks to each Workstation and to update the real time required for each Operation.
Error due to Capacity Planning Question: We receive the following error message after submitting a work order.
Answer: Please verify if you have modified the Workstation master's Working Hours. If not, kindly update it before attempting to submit a work order.
Operations (as listed in the BOM) are assigned to the workstation upon submission of the Work Order. Every procedure must to begin and end on the same day. If a system cannot schedule that operation in a single day, it will ask you to divide the project so that the system can arrange smaller operations throughout the day.
If you've updated your workstation's working hours but are still experiencing this problem, it's likely that one of your operations is taking too long and cannot be finished in a single day. Please break that task up into smaller tasks so that it can be assigned to a workstation and finished that same day.
Avoid Working Hours of Workstation
Enable Overtime in the Manufacturing Options if you want to bypass the preceding validation and permit scheduling of production jobs outside of the Workstation's normal working hours.
Check the box next to "Disable Capacity Planning and Time Tracking" in the Manufacturing Settings if you wish to completely disable this feature.
