Setting Up Clinic / Practice

Setting Up Clinic / Practice

The master configurations for setting up ERPNext Healthcare for your practice are simple. The materials listed below can help you complete data entry more quickly. To configure the Healthcare module, see also Healthcare Settings.

Medical Department You can construct various Medical Departments to set up departments within your clinic.

Healthcare > Setup > Medical Department > New Medical Department

Appointment Type

For different types of appointments, you can build masters. You can predefine the appointment's duration with Appointment Type so that when you choose Appointment Type, the appointment's duration is automatically established. By doing this, you can modify the appointment lengths provided by the Practitioner Schedule, and the time slots will immediately change to the next available time.

Note: You can turn on Always Use Slot Duration as Appointment Duration in the Practitioner master to stop this behavior. This will always set the appointment duration to the slot duration defined in the practitioner schedule.

Also, you can choose a color for each appointment type that will make it easier for you to distinguish those appointments in the Calendar view.

Healthcare > Setup > Appointment Type > New Appointment Type

Healthcare Service Unit Type

You have the option of choosing the Healthcare Service Unit where the Healthcare Practitioner will conduct his consultations when setting up the practitioner's schedule. When making appointments with the Healthcare Service Unit, make sure the Allow Appointments option is selected. For further information, see Setting up Inpatient Facilities and Healthcare Service Unit Type, where you can also describe the characteristics of service units.

Masters to Ease Data Input

You can modify a few of the frequently used masters in ERPNext Healthcare to facilitate data entering.

Dosage Forms Dosage Forms assist you in configuring the medication's packaging, such as capsules, syrups, etc.

Healthcare > Setup > Complaints > New Dosage Form

Route of Administration The way by which the medication is introduced into the patient is known as the Route of Administration. For instance, intravenous, oral, etc.

Healthcare > Setup > Complaints > New Route of Administration

Prescription Dosage & Duration While providing medication to patients, you can set up several dosages. You can specify the strength of the medication and the times when it should be taken by giving the prescription dosage any name you like (such as BID or I-0-I).

Healthcare > Setup > Prescription Dosage > New Prescription Dosage

Healthcare > Setup > Prescription Duration > New Prescription Duration

Complaint and Diagnosis

ERPNext Healthcare enables you to preserve any Complaint / Diagnose data you enter, from the Patient Encounter interface itself, to simplify data entry while preserving the encounter impression. The database will continue to compile a list of all the complaints and diagnoses you entered in this way. Later, once you begin typing, you will be able to choose the word or phrase you previously entered from the search area. By heading here, you can manually setup the masters as well.

Healthcare > Setup > Complaints > New Complaint

Healthcare > Setup > Diagnosis > New Diagnosis

Clinical Procedures Templates

To make the procedure construction process simpler, ERPNext Healthcare lets you set templates with the various clinical procedure properties. By visiting, you can build new Clinical Process Templates.

Template for a clinical procedure in healthcare > Setup

You can control the billable item, rate, etc. for a specific procedure using templates. You can configure the consumable stock items, default amounts, and other settings in the Consumables section to have these products preloaded in Clinical Procedures developed using the template. This enables the practitioner who is administering the process to easily input the quantities consumed or add extra things that were really consumed as part of the procedure.

If the option to invoice consumables separately is selected, the costs for the consumable Items will be added separately to the sales invoice in addition to the procedure's billing rate.

Keep in mind that, if necessary, you can also enable sample collection for a clinical procedure. It is also feasible to add numerous stages to the template so that the different stages that are defined in the template can track the Clinical Process.
