Inpatient Medication Entry

Inpatient Medication Entry

To handle Inpatient Medication Orders in bulk based on some filters and, optionally, to update stock on drug dispensing, an Inpatient Medication Entry (IPME) is generated.

Visit the following to get the inpatient medication entry list:

Home > Healthcare > Inpatient > Inpatient Medication Entry

1. Prerequisites

You must first construct the following records before you can create an inpatient medication entry:

  • Patient
  • Inpatient Record
  • Inpatient Medication Order

2. How to Create an Inpatient Medication Entry

  1. Click New in the Inpatient Medication Entry list.
  2. Choose the business.
  3. Decide on a Posting Date.
  4. The following filters can be used to retrieve the outstanding inpatient medication orders:
  • Item Code (Drug)
  • Assigned To: You can choose the person tasked with fulfilling inpatient medication orders.
  • Patient
  • Healthcare Practitioner who authored the medication prescription.
  • Healthcare Service Unit where you wish to administer the medication. When delivering medications in a particular HSU, such as an isolation ward, you can use these filters.
  • Date and Time filters
  1. Once the filters have been established, click the Obtain Pending Medication Orders button to retrieve the pending orders that correspond to the chosen filters.
  2. Check or uncheck Update Stock if desired. If selected, identify the warehouse where medications should be taken, if applicable.

2.2 On Submission of Inpatient Medication Entry

The associated Inpatient Medication Order Entries have the completed status.

If Update Stock is selected, orders are processed, stock validations are performed, and stock entries are created with references updated against each item. For the patient and the associated Entries, you can look up the references for Inpatient Medication Entry in the Stock Entry and Stock Entry Detail table.

2.3 On Cancellation of Inpatient Medication Entry

The associated Inpatient Medication Order Entry is once more designated as incomplete and the relevant Stock Entry is cancelled.

3. Features

3.1 Make Stock Entry for Drug Shortage

You will see a summary of all the pharmaceuticals and the shortage quantity upon submission if Update Stock is checked and the needed quantity of drugs is not available for consumption in the chosen warehouse.

When Update Stock is selected and the document is in the draft state, a Create Stock Entry button will be available. By mapping all the pharmaceuticals and the shortage quantity for each, the system will establish a new Stock Entry for Material Transfer after pressing this button to check for drug shortages. The medication warehouse you choose for the inpatient medication entry will be the "To Warehouse" for this stock entry. The "Source Warehouse" can then be set, the stock entry saved, and the medication entry submitted.
