Material consumption

Material consumption

You can enter several consumptions of stock against a work order using the material consumption functionality. Go to Manufacturing > Manufacturing Options to allow this.

Once enabled, the Work Order will have a Material Consumption button when it is opened.

When a button is pressed, the following happens:

  1. It will make a stock entry with the intention of consuming materials for manufacturing.
  2. If the Manufacturing Settings' "Backflush Raw Materials Based On" is set to BOM, it will suggest consuming all of the quantity needed for manufacturing.
  3. It will suggest using the entire transferred quantity for production if the "Backflush Raw Materials Based On" in the Manufacturing Settings is set to Material Transferred for Manufacture.
  4. Once filed, it will change the Work Order's Consumed Qty column.
  5. It will propose unconsumed quantity in subsequent material consumption.
  6. When the "Finish" button in the Work Order is clicked, the consumed quantity is taken into consideration.

Validations If "Material Consumption for Manufacture" is used in Stock Entry but "Allow Multiple Material Consumption" is not selected in Manufacturing Settings.

  • Cancelling "Material Consumption for Manufacturing" for a finished Work Order is not possible.
